To get to Coihaique, the most common way is by air.
Balmaceda Airport (BBA) is located 54 km east of Coihaique and offers direct flights from Santiago and other Chilean cities.
It is also possible to arrive by bus from several cities in the country, although the journey can be quite long due to the distance.
From Puerto Montt you can take a ferry to Chaitén and then continue by bus.
The drive is scenic, but can be challenging due to the presence of dirt roads and winding roads.
