Punta Arenas is a city located in the extreme south of Chile, in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic region.
It is located on the Brunswick peninsula, in the Strait of Magellan, and is considered the gateway to Antarctica. The city is located about 3000 km south of Santiago de Chile and is the largest and most populous city in Chilean Patagonia.
Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo International Airport is located about 20 km from the city center.
