Rancagua is a city and commune located in the O'Higgins Region, Chile. Its origin dates back to pre-Columbian times, where the Cachapoal river valley was inhabited by different cultures, such as the Promaucaes and the Picunches.
During the colony, the city was an important agricultural and livestock center, being also the scene of important historical events, such as the Battle of Rancagua in 1814, during the War of Independence.
At present, Rancagua is a modern and dynamic city, with an important mining and agricultural activity, as well as an interesting cultural and tourist offer.
