Antofagasta is located on the Pacific coast in northern Chile, in the Antofagasta Region.
It limits to the north with the commune of Mejillones, to the east with the Andes Mountains, to the south with the commune of Taltal and to the west with the Pacific Ocean.
Its privileged location makes it an important seaport and a starting point for exploring the Atacama Desert and other tourist attractions in the region.
