Calama is a city located in the Antofagasta region, in northern Chile.
It is known for being an important mining center, due to the large number of copper deposits found in the area.
In addition, Calama is an important transit point for those who want to explore the Atacama Desert, as it is within walking distance of some of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, such as San Pedro de Atacama and the Salar de Atacama.
