Castro is a city located on the Island of Chiloé, in southern Chile.
It is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes such as the Chonchi archipelago, the Chiloé National Park and the sea.
The city is known for its palafitos, which are houses built on stilts in the water, and for the Iglesia de San Francisco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition, you can visit the Castro Market to try typical products such as curanto and buy local handicrafts.
To get to Castro, you can take a flight from Santiago to Puerto Montt and then take a bus or a ferry to the island of Chiloé. It is also possible to arrive by car, taking Ruta 5 Sur to Osorno and then taking the detour to the Carretera Austral.
Castro's location is strategic for getting to know other towns on the Island of Chiloé, such as Ancud, Dalcahue, Quemchi and Chonchi, all of them with unique charms and attractions.
