Iquique is a coastal city located in the Tarapacá region, in northern Chile.
It is known for its white sand beaches, ideal for surfing and other water sports, such as diving and fishing.
It is also famous for its neocolonial-style architecture, such as the Iquique Cathedral and the Municipal Theater, and for its historic buildings such as the Casa de la Cultura and the Astoreca Palace.
In addition, Iquique offers a wide variety of tourist attractions, such as the Tarapacá Regional Museum, the Isluga Volcano National Park, and the Atacama Desert, one of the driest deserts in the world.
It is also known for its lively nightlife, with numerous bars, clubs and restaurants offering typical Chilean food and fresh seafood.
To get to Iquique you can take a direct flight from Santiago or from other major cities in Chile. There are also bus services that connect Iquique with other cities in northern Chile and Peru.
The city is located along Ruta 5 Norte, one of the main highways in Chile.
