Robinson Crusoe Island, named after the fictional character in Daniel Defoe's novel, is part of the Juan Fernández archipelago in Chile.
It is located about 670 km from the Chilean coast and is accessible by boat or plane from the city of Valparaíso.
The island is famous for having been the prison site of the navigator and writer Alexander Selkirk, who lived there for only 4 years and 4 months, and whose story inspired Defoe's novel.
The island is also known for its beautiful beaches and the diversity of its fauna and flora, with endemic species such as the Robinson Crusoe Island iguana and the Juan Fernández parrot.
In addition, on the island you can visit places such as the Selkirk Viewpoint, the House of Culture and the Island Museum.
