Robinson Crusoe Island is the largest of the Juan Fernández archipelago, located in the Pacific Ocean about 670 km from the coast of Chile.
Famous for being the place where the English navigator Alexander Selkirk was shipwrecked for four years, inspiring the novel "Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe.
The island has beautiful beaches, cliffs, forests and trails for trekking. One of its main attractions is the Juan Fernández Archipelago National Park, which protects a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna, including the Juan Fernández fur seal and the chonta palm.
It is also possible to carry out activities such as diving, fishing and bird watching.
To get to Robinson Crusoe Island, you can take a plane from Santiago to the Mataveri airport on Easter Island, and then take an additional flight to Juan Fernández Island.
Another option is to take a ferry from the port of Valparaíso to Robinson Crusoe Island, a trip that lasts about 24 hours. The island has lodgings and restaurants for visitors.
