Marchihue is a commune located in the Cardenal Caro Province, O'Higgins Region in Chile.
This town has a rich pre-Hispanic history, since traces of human settlements dating back to the 5th century have been found.
With the arrival of the Spanish, the area was populated mainly by farmers and cattle breeders.
During the colonial era, Marchihue became an important center for the production of wine and olive oil.
In the 19th century, the commune began to develop as an important commercial and service center, and today it continues to be an important wine-producing area.
In 2010, Marchihue was one of the areas most affected by the earthquake that shook the Maule Region and the O'Higgins Region, and since then it has worked on the reconstruction and tourism development of the area.
