Osorno is a city located in the Los Lagos Region in Chile, founded in the year 1553 by the Spanish conquistadors.
In its history, the city has witnessed numerous important events, such as the arrival of German settlers in the 1850s and the subsequent creation of Colonia Río Bueno.
During the 20th century, Osorno experienced rapid economic growth thanks to the development of agriculture and livestock, as well as the establishment of important industries.
However, it also suffered several natural disasters, such as an earthquake in 1960 and a volcanic eruption in 2015.
Today, Osorno is a modern and prosperous city with a wide variety of tourist attractions, including its Gothic cathedral, the Reina Luisa Fort, the municipal market, the Rupanco nature reserve, and the nearby Antillanca ski resort.
