The history of Pucón dates back to pre-Hispanic times, when the Mapuche people inhabited the area.
During the Spanish colonization, some religious missions were established in the region, but the city of Pucón itself was not founded until 1883.
During the first decades of the 20th century, Pucón became an important tourist center thanks to its warm climate and natural attractions, such as the Villarrica volcano and the homonymous lake.
Since then, the city has grown and modernized, becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in Chile.
