Putre is a small town located in the Arica and Parinacota Region, in northern Chile, in the heart of the Andes Mountains.
It is known for its rich pre-Columbian and colonial history, as well as its beautiful natural landscapes.
Among its main attractions are the Church of San Pedro de Putre, built in 1670, the Lauca National Park with its beautiful Chungará lake and the Payachatas volcanoes, which are located in the surroundings of the town.
To get to Putre, you can take Route 11-CH from Arica, which crosses the Lauca National Park and passes through the town.
It can also be reached from the city of Tacna, in Peru, taking Route A-139 that connects with Route 11-CH.
Putre is located in the Andes mountain range, at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains and volcanoes, and about 140 kilometers east of the city of Arica.
