Queilén is a commune located on the island of Chiloé, in southern Chile.
It is located on the banks of the Chacao channel, surrounded by beautiful sea and mountain landscapes. The commune stands out for its beaches, such as Quenquén, its heritage churches, such as the church of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, and for its gastronomy, in which seafood and fish dishes stand out.
To get to Queilén, it is possible to take a ferry from Puerto Montt to Chiloé and then go by car or bus along Ruta 5 Sur to the commune, which is located about 160 kilometers south of Puerto Montt. It is also possible to arrive by air, landing at the Castro airport.
The location of Queilén on the island of Chiloé makes it a strategic place to get to know other tourist towns in the area, such as Castro, Chonchi, Dalcahue, among others. In addition, its proximity to the Chacao channel makes it an ideal starting point to explore other islands of the Chiloé archipelago.
