Vicuña is a beautiful city located in the Elqui Valley of the Coquimbo Region, Chile.
It is known for being the birthplace of the national poet, Gabriela Mistral. The city has several tourist attractions, such as the Gabriela Mistral house-museum, the Plaza de Armas, the church of San Francisco, the Collowara observatory, and the vineyards of the valley.
To get to Vicuña from Santiago, you can either take a flight to La Serena airport and then take a bus or taxi to the city, or drive along the Pan-American highway until you reach La Serena and continue to Vicuña.
Vicuña is located about 60 km east of La Serena and about 550 km north of Santiago.
The city is located at an altitude of 360 meters above sea level and surrounded by mountains, which gives it an impressive landscape.
